Software Engineer

Aurora helps governments, investors, and utilities make billion-dollar decisions on the journey to net zero. You will join a growing engineering team in Oxford that builds cloud-based software to track and model power grids around the world. Aurora's models produce some of the most data-intensive outputs in the energy industry. They simulate every generator at 5-minute to half-hourly resolution, over 30-year horizons. As a Software Engineer in the platform team, you will build and own the scaling infrastructure that runs these models as fast and as cheaply as possible, using TypeScript, Python, MySQL and a variety of AWS products. You will work in a small team that releases changes multiple times a day. You solve hard problems, you value code review, and you have taken a large project from design to production. We use AI across the whole development process, from coding tools to our own agent platform, which you will help build. Hands-on experience with AI-assisted and agent-driven development is important to us.
