AI Software Engineer - 12m Inside IR35 / Fixed Term

In order to develop and expand the capabilities of SAFRAN Engineering Services in the UK, we are looking to recruit an AI Software Engineer to work on major programmes within the Engineering Methods & Tools Department. You will contribute directly to the design, development, testing and deployment of AI solutions supporting engineering activities. Working onsite, you will work closely with AI software engineers, data scientists, product owners and engineering stakeholders to deliver practical, reliable and efficient solutions that improve productivity and support innovation within Safran Landing Systems Engineering. The role is initially for 12m, but may extend up to 24 months, and with a start on 30/11/2026. The role is based in Gloucester. For the initial period (usually 3 months), the AI Software Engineer will be based full time onsite, then depending on priorities and dependencies, there may be an opportunity to operate in hybrid model, for up to two days working from home per week. Key activities of this job include the following: Hands-on development: Prototype, design and test AI and machine-learning solutions for engineering applications. Software implementation: Build maintainable and scalable ML systems and AI solutions Data Pipeline Management: Manage data pipelines and ensuring data quality.. Deployment and support: Support solution integration, cloud deployment, maintenance and transition into operation Teamwork: Work efficiently as part of the AI Software Engineering team, share progress, contribute to reviews and support collective delivery Troubleshooting: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems with deployed AI systems Continuous improvement: Promote and implement AI best practices and continuous improvement Documentation: Document all steps in the development process Requirements Right to work in the UK now and in the future 1-5 years' experience Programming Languages: Python, Java Experience with LLM, machine learning, deep learning, NLP, and computer vision Strong background in software engineering principles, including deployment and maintenance of AI systems Cloud Computing: Knowledge of cloud platforms; experience with AWS is an advantage Databases: Experience with databases and data stores Data Analysis: Statistical analysis, data visualization Communication: Strong communication skills to collaborate with other team members Benefits IF THE EMPLOYED ROUTE (fixed term) IS CHOSEN: Early finish on a Friday (midday) 5 weeks holiday per year plus statutory bank holidays Personal pension scheme whereby 5% contribution from employee and 8% from employer plus salary sacrifice Death in service life insurance – covering up to 4x annual basic salary in the event of death in service Health insurance (Bupa) PEGI Share Scheme Career development within Safran Group Training & development are a focus Onsite canteen IF THE CONTRACTOR ROUTE IS CHOSEN: Early finish on a Friday (midday) Onsite canteen
