About the role

Project Controls Analytics Consultant Our AECOM Controls Team is a highly regarded, award-winning group within our Infrastructure & PMO Operating Unit. We work with both public and private sector clients in the UK and globally, supporting areas including Cost, Risk, Planning, and Controls. Our focus is on providing cutting-edge Controls Analytics solutions that empower clients to make data-driven decisions for managing project controls and overall performance effectively. The team brings advanced analytics and insights across project controls functions, helping clients implement and optimise their processes to manage project risks, schedule performance, and financial health. Leveraging emerging technologies and data-driven strategies, we provide market solutions for clients, ensuring they have a robust basis for informed decision-making. Due to continued growth, we have multiple exciting opportunities for proactive and analytical individuals to join our Controls Analytics team. The successful candidate will be involved at all stages of a project, from identifying the requirements and defining the project scope to leading the development and delivery of effective controls analytics solutions. This role offers the chance to work with high-profile clients on large-scale projects, collaborating with a range of construction professionals in a multidisciplinary environment. The Project Controls Analytics Consultant will support the delivery of analytics, reporting and performance insights across major infrastructure and capital projects. Working closely with project managers, planners, risk specialists, commercial teams and PMO professionals, the role will contribute to the development of practical analytics solutions that support informed decision-making across cost, schedule and risk disciplines. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical analytics capabilities while gaining broad exposure to project controls within complex project environments. Here's what you'll do: Support the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of dashboards, reports and analytics solutions that provide insight into project and programme performance. Develop and monitor key project performance indicators (KPIs), identifying trends, variances, emerging risks and opportunities for improvement. Produce clear, actionable insights that support project governance, performance reviews and decision-making processes. Assist in the development of analytical models and reporting methodologies to assess potential project outcomes based on current performance data and trends. Collaborate with project controls and risk teams to integrate data-driven insights into wider project controls activities. Contribute to forecasting, performance analysis and risk-informed reporting to provide a holistic view of project performance. Support the application of project controls analytics methodologies and best practices in line with industry standards and client requirements. Work closely with project teams and stakeholders to understand business requirements, define desired outcomes and deliver tailored analytics solutions. Communicate insights and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Maintain awareness of developments in analytics tools, technologies and project controls practices to support continuous improvement. Exposure to quantitative risk analysis techniques, including Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) and Quantitative Cost Risk Analysis (QCRA), would be advantageous. Ready to push the limits of what's possible? Here's what we're looking for: Experience using Power BI, Excel or similar analytics and reporting tools to analyse data and generate meaningful insights. The ability to work with data from multiple sources and transform it into clear, practical and value-adding outputs. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail. The ability to interpret complex datasets, identify issues and communicate findings effectively. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in a clear and accessible way. Experience engaging with stakeholders across different levels of technical understanding. An interest in, or understanding of, project controls disciplines such as cost management, planning and scheduling, risk management or performance reporting. Awareness of concepts such as forecasting, variance analysis and Earned Value Management (EVM). Exposure to SQL, Python, data modelling or statistical analysis techniques would be advantageous, but is not essential. A proactive and collaborative approach, with a willingness to learn and develop within a project controls and analytics environment.
